Haresh Gurnani is the Thomas H Davis Chair of Business and Professor of Operations & Supply Chain Management at Wake Forest University.

His research and teaching Interests are in the area of Supply Chain Disruptions and Restoration, Retail Distribution Design, Healthcare Operations and Marketing, Business Analytics, Operations Management, and Sharing Economy. He is the Area Chair and Dean’s Council Member for the School of Business at Wake Forest, and serves as Program Director of the Mathematical Business program and on the University’s Council on Diversity and Inclusion. He has led student groups on capstone projects with corporate partners including one where a $128M new business opportunity was identified for the firm.

He has also served as the Benson-Pruitt Professor and Executive Director of the Center for Retail Innovation at Wake Forest. Previously he was Leslie O Barnes Professor at the University of Miami where he was Chair of the Management Dept and served on the University’s Research Council, Graduate Council and the Provost’s Advisory Promotion Board. He received the bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, New Delhi, and the MS & PhD from the Tepper School at Carnegie Mellon.

He has received several research & teaching awards including the William W. Cooper Award for the Best Doctoral Dissertation in Business and Economics, William Larimer Fellowship, Richard Cyert Fellowship nomination, Cowan Faculty Research award, University of Miami Excellence in Teaching nomination, Best Professor of Management award from World Education Congress, Michael G. Dale Prize nomination for Teaching, and Franklin Prize for Teaching Excellence in Hong Kong.

He has served on review panels for the National Science Foundation and the Department of Homeland Security. He is Dept Editor of Operations-Economics interface at POMS, Associate Editor at Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Associate Editor at Service Science, Editorial Board Member at Journal of Retailing, and previously served as AE at IIE Transactions.

His articles have been accepted in Management Science, Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Int’l Business Studies, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Journal of Retailing, Naval Research Logistics, IIE Transactions, etc.

On a personal front, Haresh has played competitive Cricket including in professional leagues and is an avid Tennis player. He would like to improve his game in golf and reduce reliance on using Mulligans.  Haresh and his wife live in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and enjoy going on long car rides and winery tours.
